Female personal assistant required to support a young person in Lerwick. Additional support for existing package. She is a funny and caring person who has a great interest in people.

COVER NEEDED

Thursday mornings: 9:30am - 12:30pm

Sunday evenings: 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Some Saturdays, variable

This role would include supporting and developing independent living skills in her home (cleaning, laundry, personal care, money, health and wellbeing), social interaction out and about in the community, physical activities (swimming, walking, gym), runs out in the car and support to attend volunteering roles.

Essential

• Experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities
• Good timekeeping and consistency, together with good boundaries and negotiation skills
• Ability to deal with some behaviours that challenge
• Car and driving license are essential as her volunteer activity is out of town and not accessible by bus

Desirable

• Knowledge of makaton/signalong/BSL/SSE (or a willingness to learn)
• An interest in supporting literacy and numeracy skills

HOLIDAY/SICKNESS COVER

Mondays: 10:00am - 4:00pm

Thursday evenings: 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Friday 12:30pm - 5:30pm or 7:30pm (This is an afternoon spent volunteering)
