Looking for support for an 80 year old man in Lerwick who has a very active and sociable life. After a major stroke 4 years ago he has unfortunately become more isolated due to not being able to drive anymore. He gets out for lunch club during the week which he thoroughly enjoys. He started accessing sessions at the Clickimin pool through Ability Shetland which he has grown to love. This has helped him to build up some of the strength he lost due to his stroke and he would love to keep this up weekly.
What is required:
- Flexible hours but afternoon support would be preferred, around 2 or 3pm. Shadow shifts can be organised if required.
- Collecting him from his home, including taking his wheelchair in the car.
- Support with changing into swimwear, plus a quick shower and changing back into everyday clothes.
- Support into the pool.
- Driving license is essential
- You must be a sociable person who is able to chat away.
- You must be happy to go into the pool and support with exercises, keeping in mind the limitations caused by his stroke
He is a very sociable person who loves chatting about his life experiences and has wonderful stories to tell. He is very patient and willing to try new things if the PA has ideas of exercises for him to try.
