PVG Info For Employers
It is now a legal requirement for all Personal Assistants (PAs) to be a member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. Employing of working as a PA without a PVG membership is against the law.
Shetland Community Connections (SCC) can assist with PVG applications on your behalf. The costs are as follows:
- £18 for a PVG scheme update
- £59 for a new application to join the scheme
- An additional £5 administration fee will be charged per application
Using SCC to process PVG applications helps protect you as an employer. We will be notified by Disclosure Scotland if a PA becomes unsuitable to work in a caring role. We will then be able to advise you (the employer) if this person is eligible to work with vulnerable people or not.
The complete the application, we must verify the PA's identity in person. Before visiting Market House, the PA should check that a member of the SCC team will be available. Identity checks may also be arranged at other locations if necessary - please call us on 01595 745091 to make arrangements.
We also have a referrals policy for Disclosure Scotland for your reference, outlining the situations where you are required to contact us with any concerns about a PA.
To proceed with the application, we need you to fill in the following:-
