We are delighted to offer an new home visiting service from our Shared Lives Shetland team. Shared Lives home visiting remeniscence service is a pilot project which we feel will become an important addition to Shetland's support services.
We know there are older people who are unable to access community remeniscence sessions. This is why we are bringing remeniscence to people's homes.
Building on our experience of using objects and artifacts linked to personal intrests and life stories we are delighted to be working in partnership with Shetland Museums outreach collection, Shetland Library resources , Memory Scotland and others to provide a vast array of items, books , photographs , music and items form our sea shores and gardens.
We aim to cover the whole of Shetland and to offer fortnightly visits.
We meet with you and get to know your intrests and what you would like to explore during the sessions. We then look at our support workers who have similar intrests and common experiences. We introduce you and then if you are in agreement we set up fortnightly visits at a time that suits both of you . There is no charge for this service.
At Shared Lives we understand the importance of growing a relationship throught shared intrests. The joint enjoyment of exploring memories and especially personal stories that objects can evoke. The importance of consistency and reliability and importantly knowing exactly who is going to visit you.
